Our Flat Roll Columbus Division was acquired on September 16, 2014. Previously owned by Severstal North America, the Columbus, MS mill increased Steel Dynamics’ steel operations shipping capacity to 11 million tons annually.
 
Situated on a 1,400-acre property, the Flat Roll Columbus Division is a groundbreaking, high-tech electric arc furnace mill capable of producing 3.4 million tons of steel annually. The plant covers more than one million square feet and features state-of-the-art steel manufacturing capabilities – two electric arc furnaces (EAFs), two ladle metallurgy furnaces, two vacuum degassers, two thin slab casters, a hot strip mill, pickle lines, an annealing line, temper mill, two hot-dipped galvanizing lines and a rewind/inspection line. Ideally located in Mississippi’s “Golden Triangle” provides unparalleled access to rail, truck and water routes, offering economical delivery to manufacturing facilities throughout the southern U.S. and Mexico.
 
The Flat Roll Columbus Division's mill is currently the most technologically advanced EAF facility in North America.
