Considered the “artisans of steel”, Steel of West Virginia is our specialty steelmaking facility. We manufacture a variety of special shapes for use in specific applications. Our goal is to help our customers design the exact type of steel shape they need that meets their requirement for a particular application. We deliver custom-produced products to our customers that can be placed directly into their assembly operations.
Our Huntington, WV facility has a melt shop with two electric arc furnaces and a three strand continuous caster, two rolling mills, and numerous fabricating and finishing operations. As compared to many other steel mills, these fabricating and finishing operations differentiate us. We cut to length, perform secondary straightening, shot blast, punch holes, manufacture end plates that are welded to beams, and we offer several different custom coatings -- either onsite at our mill, or at our wholly-owned subsidiary, Marshall Steel, in Memphis, TN.
Steel of West Virginia is ISO 9001:2008 and ABS certified.
Steel of West Virginia operations generally sell into smaller niche markets. Specialty shapes are used in a variety of industries, such as: mast sections and hanger bars for forklifts; frame sections in off-highway equipment; crossmembers for truck trailers and truck bodies; structural beams for guardrail posts, in solar farms, and for recreational vehicles; light rail applications (crane rail and mine rail); bulb flats used as hull stiffeners in shipbuilding; and standard merchant beams, channels, and miscellaneous channels used in applications such as industrial racks, construction, and overhead conveyors.
